Dr. Mathew Cherian is the Chief of the Department of Diagnostics and Interventional Radiology at Kovai Medical Center and Hospitals, Coimbatore, India.

He has pioneered Interventional Radiology in the country and is the founder of CO2 angiography in India. He was past president of Indian Society of Vascular and Interventional Radiology (ISVIR) and the current president of Society of Therapeutic Neuro Interventions.

The department further flourished when Dr. Pankaj Mehta joined in April 2004. Through their constant hard work, and dedication to remain true to internal moral compass, they have built a world class department, and trained more than 150 physicians including both diagnostic and interventional radiologists who are stalwarts in their respective fields across the globe.

Adding on to the legacy, Dr.Sanjeeva Prasad Kalva, the first fellow in interventional radiology has recently been appointed as Professor of Radiology at Harvard Medical School and is currently helming the Division of Interventional Radiology at Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH).

The KMCH Radiology Alumni group, in association with MGH, has developed a new annual conference (RECIIRC) with the aim to offer the state of the art updates in the fields of diagnostic imaging and interventional radiology. RADCONNECT also aims to bring both its national and international alumni members together so as to plan social and academic ventures in the future.

RECIIRC is a yearly 3-day conference dedicated to system based learning focused on current and emergent state of the art imaging and image-guided interventions.

The speakers are drawn from KMCH Faculty, KMCH alumni and global leaders in the field. The educational sessions are dedicated for trainees and physicians with special emphasis on interactive learning.
